An annual boiler service with us costs £95 for a basic service, £125 for an intermediate service, and £185 for a full strip-down. All three include a written service report. Servicing keeps your manufacturer warranty valid — most warranties are void without a documented annual service.

This service should be carried out annually according to all the boiler manufacturers.
Once a boiler is past three years old we recommend an Intermediate service every three years. That is our own service schedule, based on what we see fail on Birmingham systems — it is not a manufacturer requirement.
We recommend a Full Strip-Down every five to eight years. Again, that is Synergy’s own recommendation from experience rather than a manufacturer instruction — what every manufacturer does require is an annual service. The exception is boilers whose heat exchangers foul quickly, Ideal and Vokera among them: on those we recommend a Full Strip-Down every year. This Vokera shows why.
Late summer and early autumn. From the first cold week of the year our diary fills with breakdowns and service slots get scarce. Book a September or October service and you go into winter knowing where you stand.
A Vokera in a kitchen cupboard read over 999 ppm of carbon monoxide on the analyser at the start of its service, the top of the instrument's range. The heat exchanger was fouled with debris. A full strip-down, a clean heat exchanger and burner, new gaskets, and the reading came down to 112 ppm. See the before and after photos.
A Viessmann in Sutton Coldfield, photographed through its full strip-down: fan and burner assembly out, burner door and heat exchanger cleaned, new gaskets, combustion rechecked, and every radiator in the house bled on the way out. See what a strip-down involves.

A basic service annually, according to all boiler manufacturers. Once a boiler is past three years old we recommend an intermediate service every 3 years, and a full strip-down every 5–8 years.
A basic service takes around 30–45 minutes. An intermediate service takes about an hour, and a full strip-down between two and three hours.
You get a written service report. Landlords receive a CP12 gas safety record, which is a separate document.
Yes — mainly because skipping it usually voids the manufacturer warranty on an appliance still worth thousands of pounds.
