Cookie Policy
What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We keep ours to a minimum, and we set no analytics or advertising cookies at all until you choose Accept on the cookie banner.
Cookies we use with your consent
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Counts visits and shows us which pages people use, anonymously to us | Up to 2 years |
| _gcl_au | Google Ads | Tells us when a visit came from one of our adverts, so we know the advert worked | 3 months |
| _clck, _clsk | Microsoft Clarity | Shows us how pages are used (clicks, scrolling, where people get stuck) so we can fix confusing pages. Anything you type into a form is hidden from it | Set by Microsoft: see Microsoft’s list of Clarity cookies |
| CLID, MUID, ANONCHK, MR, SM | Microsoft, on its own domains | Set by Microsoft when Clarity loads, to recognise the browser across sites that use Clarity. We do not use them for advertising | Set by Microsoft: see the same list |
What happens before and after you choose
- Before you choose: no analytics or advertising cookies are set. Google’s tag still loads, in a restricted mode, and sends Google a cookieless signal that a page was viewed: the page address, the time, your browser type and an approximate location worked out from your IP address.
- If you accept: the analytics and advertising cookies in the table above are set and your visits are measured.
- If you reject: no analytics or advertising cookies are set, and Google’s tag stays in the restricted, cookieless mode described above. If you had accepted earlier, the analytics and advertising cookies this site set are deleted. The items listed under “What we store without cookies” below are still used, because your choice and the enquiry form depend on them.
Two other things load on every page whatever you choose: the fonts, which come from Google Fonts, and the chat assistant.
What we store without cookies
Your Accept or Reject choice itself is remembered in your browser’s local storage (named sg-consent) so we do not ask you on every page.
The enquiry form also keeps a few things in your own browser. None of it is sent to us unless you press send:
sg_enq_draft(session storage): what you have typed into the form but not yet sent, so you do not have to type it again on another page. It is deleted when you close the tab, or as soon as your enquiry is received.sg_leads(local storage): after an enquiry is received, your phone number, the first part of your postcode and the service you chose, kept for 6 hours so the same enquiry is not sent twice by mistake.sg_attr(session storage): if you arrived from one of our adverts, the advert reference for that visit, so an enquiry can be matched to the advert.
The booking system (ServiceM8) and the enquiry form only process what you type when you choose to send it.
Changing your mind
You can change your choice at any time. Use “Cookie settings” at the foot of any page, or the button below: it opens the same Accept or Reject choice again, and your new choice applies straight away.
You can also block cookies for this site entirely in your browser; everything except our visit statistics works exactly the same without them.
