Kingstanding, after 10pm: a leaking Worcester Greenstar, on site within 30 minutes and fixed on the same visit
The customer called us after 10pm with a leak. We were there within 30 minutes, traced it to the flow adapter on the boiler's right-hand manifold and, because we carry that part on the van, fixed it there and then.
A customer in Kingstanding called us after 10pm with water leaking, and we were at the property within 30 minutes of the call. The leak was coming from the boiler, a Worcester Greenstar 25i ErP combi. With the case off we found it on the right-hand manifold, at the flow adapter: the fitting where the heating flow pipe joins the plastic manifold at the bottom of the boiler. We carry that part on the van, so we replaced it and finished the repair on the same visit. The customer had expected us to turn the water off at the stop tap and come back another day, and was extremely happy to have it fixed that night.

Smell gas now? Do not use this form or wait for a reply. Call the National Gas Emergency Service free on 0800 111 999 (24 hours). If you are using a mobile, make the call from outside. Open doors and windows, do not switch electrics on or off, do not smoke or use naked flames, and turn the gas off at the meter if it is safe to do so, unless the meter is in a cellar or basement. Once the supply has been made safe, we can trace and repair the fault.

The call
The call came in after 10pm from a customer in Kingstanding with water leaking. We were at the property within 30 minutes. A leak at night is exactly what our emergency line is for: left until the morning, water inside a boiler can reach the electrics, and a leak can spread through ceilings and floors.
What we found
We traced the water to the boiler, a Worcester Greenstar 25i ErP combi, and took the case off. The leak was on the right-hand manifold, the plastic block at the bottom of the boiler that the heating pipes connect into, at the flow adapter: the fitting where the heating flow pipe joins the manifold. You can see the pipe and adapter out of the manifold in the second photo, and the old parts in the fourth.
The fix
We carry that part on the van. The customer had expected us to turn the water off at the stop tap and come back another day to fix it, but with the part to hand we replaced it there and then, refitted the flow pipe into the manifold and put the boiler back into service. The customer was extremely happy to have it repaired on the first visit, the same night.
Out of hours, we quote the price on the phone before we set off, so you know where you stand before we arrive. In office hours a boiler repair callout is £99, covering attendance, diagnosis and the first hour, with parts quoted before we fit them. Details are on our 24/7 emergency page and our price list.
Common questions
What should I do if my boiler is leaking at night?
Switch the boiler off at its fused spur or plug so the water cannot reach live electrics, put a bowl or towels under the leak, and if it is more than a drip, turn the water off at the stop tap. Do not take the case off yourself. Then call us: we answer the emergency line day and night.
Do you come out after 10pm?
Yes. Our emergency line runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and we covered this job in Kingstanding within 30 minutes of the call. Out of hours, we quote the price on the phone before we set off.
What is the flow adapter on a Worcester Greenstar?
It is the fitting that joins the heating flow pipe to the plastic hydraulic manifold at the bottom of the boiler, held in with a clip and sealed with rubber seals. When those seals wear or the fitting fails, the joint weeps inside the case.
Is a leaking boiler dangerous?
It can be. Water inside the case runs onto the pump, the wiring and the control board, and a leak that only needed a small part can end up damaging the electronics. Turn the boiler off and get it looked at the same day.

The right-hand manifold inside a Worcester Greenstar 28i Junior was leaking. We diagnosed it, tracked the part down locally, fetched it and fitted it the same day. Customer extremely happy.
Water from a third-floor flat had damaged the two flats below. We were on site in 45 minutes, found a split flexi hose under the basin, and fitted a new tap and hoses the same visit.
Five engineers had been out before us. We found the hot water valve patched with sealant and a hose clip, replaced it, and had the customer back up and running.
